Runway Run

The Columbia Metropolitan Airport re-opened the main runway on Monday, November 22, 2010, after completing a 7-month reconstruction project. The work on Runway 11/29, 8601’ in length, includes replacing the asphalt pavement with concrete pavement and replacing the lighting system with new LED lighting.

To celebrate the opening of our runway, we hosted a 5k Run and 1-Mile Wing Walk on Saturday, November 20,2010, at 10 a.m. It was such a great success we will be running this event ANNUALLY! We are excited to announce the 3rd Annual Runway Run 5k Run will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012. Please check back soon for more exciting details.

The USO (United Service Organizations) South Carolina lifts the spirits of America's troops and their families nearly 100,000 times each year across the state of South Carolina. We provide a touch of home through centers at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport and on Camp McCrady in Eastover, SC, top quality entertainment and innovative programs and services. We also provide critical support to those who need us most, including forward-deployed troops, military families, wounded warriors and their families and the families of the fallen.
